I learned to draw when I was very little by drawing all of my pets and all sorts of wildlife. All of my old gradeschool notebooks were full of little cartoonish images of dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and the horses that were boarded next to the elementary schoool playground. Art has always been my great escape. It is as much of a comfort to me as my pets have always been. So, when I painted my first official portrait of my pug, Vinnie, I knew it would be a natural turn for me to pursue pet portraiture. I understand the deep connection that we humans aquire for our pets. And what a compliment to our lives they truly are! It is my passion to capture the unique personality of each pet I paint. My own pets bring such light and humour to our home, and I try to reflect that same humour and liveliness in my paintings through my use of bold color and composition.

Education and influences:
I studied Art and Theater Design at IU. I've sculpted, drafted, designed and sewn costumes, you name it, and I always find myself being drawn back to the same calling..I love to paint pets. My painting style is influenced by Pop Art colors and the simplicity of Folk Art. But if a version of your pet in Botticelli's Birth of Venus is what you're wanting, I'm more than happy to oblige. If you've got questions or ideas, I'd love to hear them! Email me.
